ABOUT RADIOTOPIA
Radiotopia, from PRX, is a curated network of extraordinary, cutting-edge podcasts. Radiotopia empowers independent producers to do their best work, grow audience and increase revenue. At its core, Radiotopia cultivates community — for both listeners and makers alike.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
The Heart is an audio art project about intimacy and humanity. Founded in Kaitlin Prest’s bedroom in 2014, The Heart is comprised of a community of writers, radio makers and artists who make personal documentary work about bodies, love, power dynamics, and all of the invisible things in the air between humans. The Heart ceased production in 2018 and is now being revived with a new creative team and a new commitment to radical feminist artmaking. From Mermaid Palace and Radiotopia.
After meeting at a clothing optional house party in Mexico City, Phoebe Unter & Nicole Kelly became creatively entangled. Their collaboration began as co-hosts of bitchface, an audio zine. NK & Phoebe have also collaborated on other happenings and projects, like: CUNT POWER: Dyke Ranch, a temporary lesbian separatist retreat during the rage-filled summer of 2016; TRIAGE, a publication & pop-up clinic in response to late stage capitalism; and zines including Solidarity Is Still For White Women and You Are Not An Intersectional Feminist.
ABOUT OUR FACILITATORS
Meet Se’era! the Community Manager at the PRX Podcast Garage D.C. The focal point and catalyst of her goals has been uplifting diverse, innovative and underrepresented voices. She has sought out opportunities to engage and collaborate with her community to serve, build partnerships and bring amazing content that resonates and connects the District. Prior to the Podcast Garage, Se’era specialized in marketing, events and special projects at WAMU 88.5, Daily Press Media Group and Christopher Newport University’s Ferguson Center for the Arts. Now she’s continuing that work by helping to remove barriers for independent podcasters, providing a platform for diverse voices and ensuring the Podcast Garage is a welcoming space that celebrates the vibrant culture of the DMV.
Meet Palace! the Community Manager at the PRX Podcast Garage Boston. I’ve been steeped in community-driven arts and media work and believe in the importance of voice and storytelling as essential in building community. Palace previously worked at The Institute of Contemporary Art, UNTITLED Art Fair in Miami, Groundswell Community Mural Project in Brooklyn, and ArtMorpheus. She’s invested in supporting new and underrepresented voices in Boston and see the Podcast Garage as a creative space for people to grow their talents and perspective through audio. In her spare time, she co-host + produce The Whitest Cube, a podcast about race and art institutions that takes a close look at Boston and speaks with artists, activists, and our city to envision a radical future for museums. In her spare, spare time, she likes to cook, weave, and watch movies.
