There are over 700,000 active podcasts — how many leave a sonic mark on their listeners?
This workshop gives participants the tools to make the world of their show as familiar and iconic as the first five seconds of a Beatles song. You will learn how to craft the sonic identity of your show early in the production process by putting the following questions at the heart of your show: What makes this show audio-native? How does this sound different than anything else out there?
Over the course of two days, you will collaborate on creating a 1-minute sonic identity for a potential show idea and walk away with the tools to replicate the process in the future.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Misha Euceph is a Pakistani-American podcast host and producer. Her most recent show “Tell Them, I Am,” was called “quietly revolutionary” by the LA Times, “hypnotic listening” by the New York Times, and is one of TIME’s 10 best podcasts of 2019. It’s about the small defining moments in our lives— the voices are all Muslim; the stories are universal.
Just a couple months before “Tell Them, I Am,” Misha produced The Big One: Your Survival Guide, called “riveting” and “strangely reassuring” by The New Yorker. The LA Times called it “sugary,” in a good way. It also convinced some famous people to get their earthquake kits together.
All this podcasting started with Beginner, Misha’s autobiographical series about learning to belong as an immigrant in America. It was featured on NPR and WIRED. The Guardian’s Rowan Slaney said it brought her week “oodles of joy.”
Misha sometimes make jokes on McSweeney’s and write serious things for the Wall Street Journal. She got her Masters in Journalism at Northwestern University.
Misha’s just as passionate about podcast education as she is about production and hosting. She created How To Make a Podcast, a one-stop guide to making a podcast from beginning to end. She’s an adjunct professor at the USC Annenberg School and has taught alongside Rob Rosenthal at Transom.
