AERONAUT, in partnership with WCRB and WGBH, is thrilled to invite you to the pindrop sessions at the Somerville taproom. Pindrop is a ticketed, classical-ish performance series taking place the first Sunday night of every month at the AERONAUT taproom in Somerville, MA, shining light on the ridiculous pleasure of collective listening. No stodginess, no competing sound–just sweet, shared silence, beautiful beers, food, and beautiful people. Please stay for an after-party with the artists!
This month we will be featuring the music of Phil Berman with storytellers curated by PRX Podcast Garage.
Performers
Phil Berman is a singer-songwriter based in Somerville, MA. His original music re-weaves the tapestry of Western popular song, marrying early jazz, French chanson, Golden-Age musical theater, and bluesy, radio-ready Americana. His song lyrics usher the tight, internally-rhymed structures of Great American Songbook composers like Porter, Berlin, Hammerstein, and Gershwin into our hyper/dis-connected 21st century reality. As a storyteller, he's committed to crafting unabashedly queer songs to navigate, question, and affirm the human heart in an increasingly absurd digital world.
Nick Andersen is an audio producer living in Cambridge, MA. He produces the Webby Award-winning MASTERPIECE Studio podcast for the long-running PBS telelvision drama, MASTERPIECE, and is also the senior producer of Ministry of Ideas, a founding member of the Hub & Spoke Podcast Collective. Previously, he was a producer for the WBUR and NPR talk show, On Point Radio. He has performed stories live at The Moth and Story Collider.
Stephanie Rosario was born in Puerto Rico, raised in Lowell, MA. She works in Dudley Square as a creative learning consultant. She started storytelling in January, so this is all kinda new to her.
Lawrence Barriner II is a narrative strategist, connector, and systems thinker. He currently serves as Network Engagement Manager at the Center for Story-Based Strategy and consults as a transformative facilitator. He has worked in communications and storytelling at the Interaction Institute for Social Change and the Community Innovators Lab at MIT. He co-hosts a bi-weekly radio show about music beyond post-patriarchy, sends a weekly(ish) newsletter, and writes.
Allison Daskal Hausman is the producer and host of The Pledge Podcast. After the election in 2016, Allison decided to leave her job as Director of Communications for a nonprofit and dedicate her energy to getting more politically involved. As a longtime believer in the power of storytelling to bring people together and inspire action, Allison decided to start sharing stories of the surge of activism blossoming around the country. This idea evolved into The Pledge, now in its second season, featuring stories of amazing women who have found their voices and their power by claiming their role in our democracy. Telling all those stories was contagious, turning Allison into an activist herself. She became the Southeast Regional Coordinator for Swing Left for the 2018 midterms. Now that it's 2020, she expects a very busy year as both a chronicler and an activist!
