Panelists

Andrea Asuaje is a reporter and co-producer of WBUR’s radio series and podcast, “Kind World.” Prior to her work at WBUR, she was the associate producer of WGBH’s “Under the Radar with Callie Crossley.” Before working in radio, Andrea worked as a reporter, web producer, social media manager, blogger and digital content specialist for news organizations.

Rekha Murthy is an independent consultant who guides people through making and distributing podcasts. This involves listening and editing and helping with designing the podcast, strategizing and networking. She’s worked with Radiotopia, PRX, NPR, and web and mobile startups. She’s on the editorial board of The Longest Shortest Time podcast and is an EXPLO trustee.

Heidi Shin is a public radio + podcast producer. She contributes to PRI’s The World and BBC World Service and was a producer for a National Geographic documentary series. She co-created and produced the podcast “The New American Songbook” (The GroundTruth Project and WGBH). She's also an instructor at the PRX Podcast Garage.

Jeb Sharp has been doing audio journalism for nearly 30 years. She started out at KCAW in Sitka, Alaska, worked for a couple of years at WBUR, and then moved on to WGBH where she spent 20 years as a reporter, editor and show producer at PRI's The World. She now produces and edits at FRONTLINE's podcast, The FRONTLINE Dispatch. 

Moderator

Amy Bracken is a long-time freelance journo who entered the radio world about 13 years ago. There she reports, produces and edits. She too has done stints in Alaska and at WBUR and WGBH (The World). She loves listening to podcasts. She’s co-captain of the Journalism and Women’s Symposium’s Boston chapter, along with E.J. Graff.

Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) brings together working journalists and journalism educators and researchers from across the country to share resources, support, training and information about issues that affect women in our field. We meet in person and online in an atmosphere of mutual support and allow each other a chance to exercise the tongue instead of biting it.
