When we make stories, we too often throw a lot of wet, stringy spaghetti at the wall. Whatever sticks, goes. Alison MacAdam, who teaches audio storytelling for NPR Training, wants to help you be more intentional with your spaghetti.
In this three-hour session, she'll introduce you to NPR Training's Project Blueprint and walk you through several exercises that can help you hone a story or project idea. Is there a topic you've been wanting to explore, but you can't find a way in? Are you drowning in tape and paralyzed about how to proceed? Are trying to get audiences to care about your labor of love? This session is for you.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Alison MacAdam is the team’s Senior Editorial Specialist for audio storytelling. She arrived at NPR in 2003 to work as a producer at All Things Considered. As Senior Editor from 2008 to 2014, she helped guide hosts and producers through everything from breaking news to artist profiles to a story about putting real lipstick on real pigs. Alison got her start in 1999 at WBUR in Boston. She graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in American Studies. She was a 2014 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Alison grew up in Lexington, Kentucky — where she prepped for a career in journalism by playing soccer and performing in musicals. (There’s a connection. Really.)
