How To Find and Pitch Killer Stories with Stephanie Foo

This workshop is sold out. Please sign up for our newsletter to hear when future workshops are announced. View a schedule of current workshops on our event calendar.

Often, the hardest part of getting a great story on a show is finding it in the first place. Even beginners can land prime spots on elite shows if they can find a juicy, incredible story to sell. The problem is, an incredible amount of legwork goes in to finding a great story... legwork that many producers don't pursue.

In this 4-hour workshop, you'll learn how to find amazing stories... and how to pitch them to storytelling radio shows and podcasts like This American Life. You'll learn tips on what the critical ingredients are for a good story, and how to spot them. Then you'll learn what to do once you find a great story... create a great pitch.

You'll walk away with new tricks like how to use pre-reporting to get just the right amount of information for your story, how to lay out and sell a narrative, how to entice editors into your story, and how to cater your pitch to different shows.
