You love to listen to podcasts and you want to make your own audio stories, but where do you start? You start by tuning your ears.

In this workshop, we'll engage in the close listening of several audio stories. With group discussion, we'll identify the elements of a compelling audio story and breakdown why story arc matters. There are even blindfolds involved! 

We highly recommend this workshop for audio beginners and anyone who wants to refresh their ears. You'll never listen to Morning Edition in the same way again.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Ibby Caputo is a multimedia journalist and was a 2014-2015 MIT-Knight Science Journalism Fellow. She is a content editor for several podcasts including The Breakthrough from ProPublica, Us and Them, and the Jewish Women Archive's Can We Talk. Ibby covered health care, transportation, and breaking news as a reporter for WGBH’s Boston Public Radio and WGBH TV. Her work has aired on NPR News, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, Marketplace Morning Report, Marketplace Tech, The World, Scene on Radio, Radiotonic, and the BBC’s Short Cuts. Ibby is an adjunct professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and is a recurring guest speaker at the Harvard Divinity School.
