We want to make podcasting accessible to all. As part of that mission, we build partnerships with local organizations interested in how podcasting and audio storytelling can elevate stories within their communities.

Our partnerships are wide-ranging: some involve the creation of joint programs and content, some work with us on outreach or host our workshops, and others provide resources and support to creators in our community.

Our local partners include Boston Public Library, AIR, Pao Arts Center, Dudley Cafe, The Record Co., Ujima Project, and Zumix.

What resources do you offer your partners?
In addition to working collaboratively with our partners to support podcasting and audio storytelling within their organization, we also offer them access to free and low-cost resources. These resources can include:

  • Free recording time in the studio or field kit rental

  • One seat in a paid workshop per month, free of charge

  • Space and staffing to co-sponsor a live event or workshop

How can I become a partner?
If you work for a nonprofit in Boston with an interest in podcasting or audio storytelling, we’d love to talk to you. Please send us an email at info@podcastgarage.org with your name and a description of your organization’s mission and interest in audio.

Do you offer nonprofit discounts?
We currently do not offer discounts to nonprofits on any of our services. However, we are proud to offer low studio rates and workshop scholarships to all - please reach out to us if any of our programs provide a financial barrier.

What happened to the Community Hours program?
In 2017, we started the Community Hours program as a way to devote some of our resources to local organizations at low or no cost. These organizations represent people whose voices are underrepresented in public media and podcasting - parents of children on the autism spectrum (Live from the Spectrum), people in recovery from addiction (End of the Line), people with disabilities exploring the outdoors (The Point), LGBTQ parents and families (Outspoken Voices), Asian women in public health (Pathways from Resilience to Radiance), and people exonerated from prison (Mass Exoneration.) While not all of these projects are ongoing, they likely would not have started without our support.

Since that time, we have developed clearer goals around community partnerships. We are interested in establishing ongoing relationships with local organizations who have the capacity and desire to learn how podcasting could be a platform to elevate stories within their communities. To support this goal, we are shifting the Community Hours program so we can make those resources available to our community partners.
