Black lives matter.

We mourn the loss of Black lives to reprehensible acts of violence by police and white supremacists and the ways in which society silences that pain and grief.

We stand with our Black podcasters, storytellers, artists, teachers, and partners who bravely share their stories and dismantle dominant narratives to create a more just, beautiful world.

We fight alongside all who believe in racial justice by sharing our time, money, and resources with those involved in the #BlackLivesMatter movement, not just this week but from this day forward.

And we will examine the structures that exist within the Podcast Garage to build anti-racist spaces for all to make their voices heard.

We have been silent for the last week because we wanted to come forward with tangible resources and meaningful ways to serve our community. So, why are we saying this now? Racial inequality is built on systems going back hundreds of years. However, this moment is an inflection point for our communities. We all need to take responsibility for ourselves and our spaces, look critically at the ways in which the media represents us, and imagine radical futures by telling new stories.

In the coming weeks, we commit to:

  • Host conversations focused on creativity, identity, and social justice

  • Share anti-racism and media literacy materials for audio makers

  • Offer tangible support to Black podcasters, journalists, and storytellers

  • Continue to assess and communicate our long-term plans to support new and diverse voices with the resources they need to thrive
